Presentation often breaks before and after jumps, spins, and steps. Before a jump, the skater may focus on speed, timing, rotation, and takeoff. As a result, the music and expression may disappear, and the skater may look as if they are only preparing for the element. However, technical elements are also part of the program. The skater should not ignore the music simply because a jump is coming. A good skater keeps the atmosphere of the music even while preparing for a technical element. After the jump, the skater quickly returns to the next musical expression.
