15. What Should Parents Watch in a Composition Score?

Composition

What can parents look for?

What You Will Learn

Help parents find simple, visible points in a practice video without needing to know any hard skating words.

Parents do not need to judge whether a jump or spin is perfect. Just sharing clear facts like the following is more than enough to help:

⛸️ What to check in practice
  • 👉 Does the skater look like they stop completely after a jump or spin?

  • 👉 Which parts of the rink are left empty and not being used?

  • 👉 When the music changes, does the skater’s movement change too?

  • 👉 Does the skater keep the same direction or posture for too long?

  • 👉 Does the whole routine feel like one connected story from beginning to end?

✍️ Summary Instead of saying “Show more expression,” it is much more helpful to say exactly what you saw. For example: “It looked like your movement stopped after that jump,” or “What are you planning to change when the music changes there?”
