What does a program that often scores low in Composition look like?
What You Will Learn | |
See what kind of programs get a low Composition score from the judges, so you can avoid making the same mistakes. |
Programs like the following can look weak in Composition:
❌ Every jump begins with a similar setup, and the skater stops completely after every landing.
❌ The program stays mostly on one side or in the center of the rink, and does not go to the corners or the other side.
❌ From beginning to end, there is very little change in speed, body height, direction, or posture.
❌ The build, quiet parts, and ending of the music do not match the jumps, spins, or how you move.
❌ There are good poses or difficult movements, but they pop out of nowhere and do not connect to the rest of the program.
✍️ Summary
This does not mean the skater lacks talent. In many cases, you can get a better score just by changing the program design or the way you check your practice.
