11. Good Example vs. Poor Example

Composition

The same elements can look very different.

What You Will Learn

Understand how program design can change the way the same technical content looks.

Good example
  • Movement that fits the music continues before a jump, and posture and eye focus continue after landing into the next action.

  • The placement, shape, and ending of a spin fit the music or theme of that moment.

  • Movement changes between the beginning, middle, and ending, but the program still looks unified as one program or story.

Poor example
  • There is no movement before or after a jump, and the program seems to stop each time a jump ends.

  • The same direction, the same height, and the same body movement continue for too long.

  • The music changes, but element placement and movement style do not change.

✍️ Summary

Good Composition is not “a program with many difficult skills.” It is a program in which everything looks as though it belongs in the same performance.
