1. So, What Exactly Are Skating Skills?

Skating Skills

Skating Skills means the quality of the skating itself.

In simple terms, it asks this question:

Is the skater really skating well, or are they only moving fast?

Skating Skills are not just about speed.

Skating Skills look at how well the skater controls the blade, edges, balance, turns, speed, flow, power, and direction throughout the whole program.

A skater with good Skating Skills looks balanced and secure. They move smoothly from one action to the next.

Good Skating Skills are the foundation of figure skating. Jumps, spins, steps, and choreography all look better when the skater can control the blade and move across the ice with confidence.
